First Time Blogger

May 21st, 2009 at 04:16 am

This is my first time blogging. I tend to be a message board and blog lurker, and I rarely post. I normally like to talk or debate things face to face.

Money is the exception. I was raised to not talk about money. It is a subject that makes me feel uncomfortable. Most people really don't care how much you save, they are more interested in what you are buying. Hopefully this blog will allow me the opportunity to vent, discuss, and celebrate my penny pinching ways with like minded individuals.

I also love reading blogs describing people's successes. Hopefully I will be able to post my successes and give someone hope.

I don't understand the cultural attitude of why we are not suppose to talk about money face to face?

    Anyway, welcome!

welcome. I love blogging. And I too am very curious about why society is so secretive about money.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Money is a tricky thing to talk about. I know many times people assume people with a lot of possessions are doing well (money wise) and people who live frugally are only doing it because they have no other choice. We love to judge how people manage their money. I have a neighbor who is always asking if my kids get mad because I don't buy them something. I just laugh because my family makes less money, but she is the one always talking about being broke and not being able to afford anything. She measures success by what she is making payments on.

Welcome to Saving Advice. You will find here a community of warm and welcoming people who are willing to be shoulders to lean on if you are having a crisis. Quite a few people have gotten out of debt as a result of the support from this community. I have about 1/2 as much debt as I did 3 years ago. Welcome. We look forward to reading your blogs and getting to know you.

I learned a lot about economics through this blog. A well-written reminder to all about the impending issues that we are all going to have to deal with (or are already dealing with) in this country in the years to come.
